The year is 2003. You turn on some Lil Jon and dial up your modem to chat online using your AIM username bigpimpin96. A phone call comes in ringing to your landline to shut down your group chat party and it’s for your little sister, Jessica. You yell across the house only to upset your mother. Who ever knew technology could get so much more complicated?

Now, in the year 2021, we have different dilemas such as how to build traffic to your website. Is it better to pay for traffic via facebook or google? Or should you concentrate on content to build your search engine optimization organically? In this article, I plan to break down myths to help your website get up to speed and stay ahead of the curve that constantly changes. 

First, we must understand the basics of SEO vs PPC. 

SEO or rather search engine optimization is defined as follows – Search engine optimization is the process of improving the quality and quantity of website traffic to a website or a web page from search engines. SEO targets unpaid traffic rather than direct traffic or paid traffic. (Wikipedia)

PPC or pay per click is defined as follows – (on the internet) a business model whereby a company that has placed an advertisement on a website pays a sum of money to the host website when a user clicks on to the advertisement. (Oxford Languages)

So to answer the big question that everyone wants to know – which is better? – the answer is simply both. Now I know that’s not what you were hoping for as it takes a lot of work to develop both strategies separately, so how much more effort is needed to make sure you have all grounds covered with SEO and PPC? This is honestly where most businesses need HELP. 

SEO will give your business a good foundation online. Linking Google to your site indexes, making sure Facebook is pointing to your website and reflects accurately what your business does. These are just a few of the things we look for when building organic foundations for SEO. Along with this we look to build strong focus key words and make sure your business has the right strategy to attract potential customers. 

PPC will help expedite that traffic, however. So it cannot be overlooked. Building an effective and proactive marketing campaign with Google, Facebook, or Instagram can really help accelerate a new business and is a worthy investment for customer growth. As organic growth increases you’ll see the budget make a lot more sense. 

So in short, I believe the best approach is a balanced approach. Start with a good foundation and grown from there. If you think about it, that’s exactly how pretty much everything is built. You don’t build a house without a roof and walls. So, why would you build your webpage without content and focus?
